Sunglasses
Beyond their ability to
enhance your appearance, sunglasses help to protect your
eyes
from the harmful effects of the sun. We recommend
everyone from infants to seniors wear some sort of sunglass
protection. The earlier you start to wear as well as the
more you wear sun protection the less chance you may have in
the future of developing cataracts or other eye diseases.
When choosing a pair of sunglasses look for a pair that
offer protection from UVA and UVB, two types of ultraviolet
light that can injure the eye. Less expensive sunglasses,
without UV protection, actually do more harm than good
because tinted lenses cause the pupils to dilate, letting in
damaging UV rays.
